Craig A. Nordal is the owner and chief appraiser for the firm. Craig founded Nordal & Associates Real Estate Appraisal in 1989, and incorporated as an L.L.C. (Limited Liability Company), a form of a California Corporation in 1996, recently changed to an S Corporation in 2006.
Craig is a Certified Residential Appraiser in the state of California, is FHA Approved since 1994, a past associate member of the Appraisal Institute, and a member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Appraisers Survey since 1994. Since 1989 Craig has performed over 9,000 residential real estate appraisals!
Craig holds two undergraduate degrees, (previously a professional student) a BS in agriculture from Cal Poly Pomona (1979) and a BA in fine arts from San Diego State University (1983). He also holds a California Teaching Credential (1984). Since 1989, Craig has appraised every type of residential real estate property imaginable, and has focused on the residential appraisal market primarily after his first year that combined commercial appraisal with residential appraisal. Due to the north county San Diego Encinitas location, executive custom homes and beach property, has also become a strong specialty. Craig is well known in the lending industry as an honest appraiser who will tackle most difficult appraisal situations that other appraisers lack experience and knowledge to complete. Due to his agricultural background and experience as a farmer (citrus), vacant land, horse property, and agricultural property appraisals are a specialty. Craig enjoys community service in his free time. He served as the President of his Homeowners Association for 10 years 1995-2005. He continues to be an active blood donor for the San Diego Blood Bank for over 18 years. He is the past President and co-founder of the North Coast Republican Club in Encinitas, past Vice President, and Treasurer. Craig was an 18 year member of the San Dieguito United Methodist Church where he practiced keeping his passion of music alive in the music ministry of the church singing in the choir and performing on his saxophones and clarinet as a soloist and accompanist, not to mention occasional musicals around San Diego County. Craig is now a regular at the Maranatha Chapel in Rancho Bernardo, where he enjoys the inspired ministry of Pastor Ray Bentley, with his faithful, gracious, and beautiful wife Lori Dawn Nordal. They can be seen at Padre games together behind home plate (with Craigs season seats since 1992!), more often than not riding to the game on the Honda Shadow 1100! If you see Lori ask her about our recent wedding on June 28th, 2009 at the Powerhouse in Del Mar, honeymooning at the Sheraton Kauai. Craig has enjoyed singing with the La Jolla Symphony Chorus as a member of the "mighty tenor" section, and occasionally joins the San Diego Master Choral with large vocal performances with the San Diego Symphony, not to mention continueing performances in small concerts with his own professional group, the San Diego Saxophone Quartet. If this is not enough, Craig is also the President of a family corporation, Arroyo Citrus, in the Hemet area of Riverside County which he runs with his brother Curt. We are poised to go green with the company as a solar producer. Besides his new wife, Craigs greatest joy in life are his two daughters, Kelsey and Kristen. Kelsey is a junior at Phoenix University as a business major, and Kristen has just begun her first year at a local junior college. Both daughters are currently on staff and help out when needed at Nordal & Associates, Inc.
